International Students

MSCT guides international students through every step of the admissions process, from your first inquiry to arriving on campus. Here is what to expect.

1. 1. Request Information. Reach out to MSCT to learn more about our programs and visa options. If you are already in the United States on an F-1 visa and plan to transfer to MSCT, please contact our Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) before your admissions interview so we can confirm your current status supports a transfer. If you are applying for a change of status to F-1, please note that if MSCT does not have an on-premises ESL class available when your status changes, you may need to transfer to another school.
2. 2. Admissions Interview. Meet with our admissions team to discuss your goals and find the program that fits you best.
3. 3. Admission Decision. Once accepted, you will receive formal notification of your admission to MSCT.
4. 4. Financial Document Review. Submit your financial documents so we can confirm that you are able to cover tuition and living expenses. For the ESL program, a bank statement showing at least $11,350 is required. For the Accounting program (AX1500), a bank statement showing at least $27,818 is required. If you live outside the United States, please provide a copy of your passport and diploma with your application. If you are already in the United States on a B-1/B-2 tourist visa or an R-1 religious worker visa, please also provide a copy of that visa. If your current visa expires within three months of your admissions interview, we recommend applying for a visa extension before requesting a change of status.
5. 5. I-20 Issuance. MSCT issues your I-20 based on the program and visa category approved for you under our SEVP Form I-17. A $200 fee applies for I-20 issuance, plus an additional $200 for each dependent, such as a spouse or child, who also needs an I-20, even if they are not enrolling in a program. If you are applying for a change of status, your I-20 will list a start date within two to three months of issuance. If your change of status has not been approved by that date, please contact our PDSO or DSO to discuss deferring your start date.
6. 6. SEVIS I-901 Fee Payment. Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee, which is required before your visa interview.
7. 7. Visa Interview. Attend your visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate with your I-20 and proof of I-901 fee payment.
8. 8. Arrival. Plan to arrive in the United States no more than 30 days before your program start date.
